Ruahine Series 2019

A collection of portraits  based around Contemporary Ruahine or "wise women" who were inspired by the writing of Te Iwa Makere Tamaki. Ruahine were intended to symbolise the goddesses within every woman. The Kaupapa behind the work is self love,self care and empowerment. Each portrait was based on one of Te Iwa's stories that serves as a reminder to acknowledge and honour a different part of ourselves and our individual journeys. All paintings in this series are 30 x40 inches or 76.2cm x101.6cm. They are acrylic on stretched canvas, have been sealed for protection and come unframed.
